How child support is calculated in Wyoming
What decides the amount, where to get the real number, and the extra rules.
Checked against official sources: Oct 25, 2026.
Short answer
Wyoming uses the income-shares model: both parents' incomes count, and each parent pays a share of the child's support. Both parents' net monthly incomes (after taxes, Social Security, the children's health coverage, other support paid and mandatory pension deductions) are combined and run through the statutory tables for the number of children.

The official Wyoming calculator
Both parents' net monthly incomes (after taxes, Social Security, the children's health coverage, other support paid and mandatory pension deductions) are combined and run through the statutory tables for the number of children. The total is split between the parents in proportion to their net incomes. Special formulas apply when each parent has the children more than 25% of overnights, or when the parents split custody.

We don't estimate Wyoming's amount here: its formula uses both parents' incomes and other facts, and a home-made number could mislead you. The official tool gives the real starting number:

Medical support in Wyoming
Every order must include medical support. One or both parents must provide insurance if it is available at reasonable cost and usable by the children, and both parents share uninsured costs and deductibles as cash medical support in the proportion the order sets. Proof of insurance is due within 60 days. (W.S. 20-2-401)
What the model means
In an income-shares state, both parents' incomes are added together. A table gives the support for that combined income, and each parent pays the share that matches their part of the income.
Every state must have one set of child support guidelines, review them at least every 4 years, and use the guideline amount unless a written finding says it would be unjust.

Low incomes in Wyoming
Self-support reserve: if the paying parent's net income minus the federal poverty line for one person is less than the table amount, support is set at that difference. (W.S. 20-2-304(f))
State guidelines may not treat time in jail or prison as choosing not to work, when support is set or changed.
